Arkan Interiors has designed and fitted out interiors in Abu Dhabi since 2003, and has delivered more than 440 projects. We design, we build, and we make much of the furniture that goes in, for developers, corporate clients, and private owners.
How we ended up doing all three
Design firms draw. Contractors build. Furniture makers make. Most projects need all three, and most of the trouble on a project happens in the handovers between them.
We started by making furniture, and the rest followed from clients asking whether we could also handle the room the piece was going into. Doing all three is not a strategy so much as the answer we kept giving.
Beech, oak, and the room they go into
Wooden furniture is made in beech and oak. Beech is close-grained and even in colour, and it takes turning and shaping well, so it earns its place in frames and legs. Oak shows more grain once it is finished, which makes it the better choice where the timber is part of what the room sees.
Everything is made locally in the UAE, and to measure where a room needs a specific size. Joinery of every type is cut in our own Abu Dhabi workshop. Keeping the making close changes how a job runs: a chair frame that needs a new rail goes to our own joiners instead of out to a third party.
What the years in the trade get you
More than 440 projects since 2003, and a team with more than thirty years in the trade. Mostly that experience buys judgement about what will go wrong: which subfloor will telegraph, which finish will not match in a year, which programme was never realistic. We would rather tell you that at the quote than discover it together halfway through.
Discretion
Many of our clients would rather not see their homes online, and we work that way by default. NDAs are standard, and no project is photographed or published without written consent. Much of our best work we are not permitted to show.
